The UK has long been a leader in standing up for human rights and international justice. Yet, more than one million Rohingya refugees remain trapped in dire conditions in Bangladeshi camps, deprived of citizenship, security, and dignity. We urge Members of Parliament to demand the UK Foreign Office actively support safe, voluntary, and dignified return for Rohingya to Myanmar—with guarantees of citizenship, protection, and restoration of rights.

We, the undersigned, write on behalf of thousands of Rohingya refugees currently living in overcrowded and precarious conditions in camps across Bangladesh. This petition, initiated by the Rohingya Return Organisation (RRO) and supported by thousands of Rohingya, urgently calls for decisive attention and action from the UK Foreign Affairs Committee to address the ongoing persecution, suffering, and statelessness of our people.
For decades, the Rohingya have endured systemic discrimination, violence, and denial of citizenship in Myanmar’s Arakan (Rakhine) State. Denied rights under the 1982 Citizenship Law, they remain one of the largest stateless populations in the world. In 2017, over 740,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar to escape killings, sexual violence, forced labor, and widespread destruction of their communities.
Today, more than one million Rohingya refugees are still living in camps in Bangladesh without a clear future. After years of persecution, violence, and displacement, our people continue to suffer without citizenship, security, or the right to return home. We respectfully call on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the UK Parliament to stand for justice and humanity by supporting safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation with full citizenship and equal rights. At the same time, urgent action is needed to ensure refugees in the camps have access to food, clean water, healthcare, education, and protection.
The Rohingya people do not want to live in camps forever. We want to return home with dignity, rebuild our lives, and secure a better future for the next generation. Approximately 600,000 Rohingya still in Myanmar remain subject to violence, forced displacement, and systemic oppression.
Despite international recognition of these atrocities—including the 2022 designation of the 2017 violence as genocide by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken—critical humanitarian support and political solutions remain inadequate. Every day of inaction deepens the suffering of our people and threatens an entire generation of Rohingya children with lost opportunity, trauma, and hopelessness.

The Rohingya crisis is a test of humanity, justice, and global responsibility. We respectfully urge the Foreign Affairs Committee and the UK Parliament to act decisively, uphold human rights, and ensure that the Rohingya are granted the dignity, protection, and opportunities they deserve. Every moment of delay costs lives, erodes hope, and prolongs injustice.
