The Rohingya Green Nature Society (RGNS) has successfully concluded its flagship program,
“Inspiring Rohingya Youth for Climate Action and a Sustainable Future.”
Founded in 2022, RGNS is a youth-led, non-profit organization aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 13: Climate Action). With a vision for a greener, safer, and pollution-free future, RGNS continues to champion environmental resilience and community empowerment within the Rohingya camps.
On 15 November 2025, over 300 young men and women gathered in Camp 07 to learn, share, and lead solutions for environmental challenges. The event created a rare and powerful platform for Rohingya youth to express their ideas, concerns, and hopes for a healthier environment.
One young participant stated,
“We may be refugees, but we are not helpless. We can protect our environment and take responsibility for our community.”
The event brought together numerous NGOs, local CBOs, and Rohingya CBOs, along with community leaders, youth activists, educators, climate volunteers, and more than twenty distinguished speakers.
The program highlighted the urgent risks of climate change inside the camps flooding, landslides, soil erosion, water scarcity, waste mismanagement, deforestation, tree loss, fire hazards, and the growing need for conservation and sustainable practices. Speakers emphasized how climate adaptation and environmental stewardship can strengthen safety, resilience, and long-term well-being for the Rohingya community.
RGNS reaffirmed its commitment to empowering youth through leadership opportunities, environmental education, and climate-focused training.
The program concluded with a united call for stronger collaboration among NGOs, community groups, and youth-led initiatives to safeguard the environment and inspire hope for a greener future carrying forward the powerful slogan:
